AppWorld Notification

Today RIM has released BlackBerry Messenger version 6. This new version includes support for the BBM Social Platform for example Invite Friends, Update User Profiles, Chat and Share Content from within other applications (both native & third party). The ability to send calender events and appointments to your BBM contacts. RIM really are making excellent progress along with the third party developers since the BBM API was released only a few months ago.

If your interested in sharing more of what you do to your BBM contacts then simply update your BBM to version 6 and head on down to AppWorld to pick up your BBM enabled apps.

AppWorld Notification

After spending a long time in the Beta Zone with lots of BlackBerry users worldwide helping to shape the new version of FaceBook. Well the waiting is over, you can now access this fantastic version in AppWorld. The UI (User Interface) works fantastic even on a small screen like the 9700/9300. A new added feature for version 2.0 is FaceBook Chat. This works very well even over a carrier connection and now that the app is WiFi enabled only excels this RIM native app. Speaking of native app, the FaceBook integration in to the OS (operating system) making sharing info even easier.

RIM seem to have pulled the update from Appworld, but never fear my friend rr_yy on twitter has a solution to your problem. If you visit his website on your device you can access the slightly newer update of v2.5.85 taken from a recent OS7 leak.

RIM updates its native IM apps, but I only use Google Talk as its probably the best cross platform IM app on the open market. Its only a small step up from v2.5.81 the version I got when I updated to OS 6.0.0.600

Not seen any changes with in the app, so I’m guessing it is under the hood stuff that has tweaked.

BlackBerry App World

I just noticed tonight on Twitter a tweet from BBRocks, that there is a new App World available. Although there is no changelog for v2.1.2.19 my thoughts are more likely to be bug fixes for different devices. If your wondering why you haven’t had a push yet from BlackBerry, this is because they are in the process of updating the App World servers and a push should happen in the next week or so. But if you want to install it through App World itself, clear your cache and hit the link.

Auto update prompt

This is one of apps that is a must for any BlackBerry user. Once its setup, its connects to your selected wifi hotspots when your in range and saves your power when your not. Quite cleverly using cell mast locations it activates/deactivates your wifi saving the drain on your battery.

What’s New?

New Sector IN & OUT Handling:
In the previous Versions of LittleBrother the App have always triggered an IN (or OUT) of Sector event when you have entered (left) a Sector. Depending on your update interval and the direction of your movement it could happened that shortly after one event occurred the opposite event was fired. In the worse case this could end in a lot of IN & OUT messages when you are traveling along the border line of your defined sector.
With the new build of LittleBrother this have been solved by adding multiple techniques in order to detect and ignore unwanted messages and re-send previously ignored messages when they become important. Details about how this functionality have been implemented can be understand when you take the time to read the LittleBrother LOG.
Since I had this repeated IN & OUT of Sector messages myself in the past with the previous Versions of LittleBrother (like v0.7.x) and with the new v0.9 they have been completely gone, I am very confident that you will appreciate this enhancement [I have tested the new build every day over the last 2 weeks and it has worked rock solid - I am looking forward to your feedback].

LitteBrother LOG:

LittleBrother will now come with a own LOG that allows you to keep track of the actions of LittleBrother. Also the LOG allows you some quick actions to modify existing sectors.
The LOG is accessible from the LittleBrother Options
When the CellTowerLocation is known then you will find for the LOG entry a button that allows you to show a map of CellTower that have triggered the LOG entry.
On a OUT-OF-Sector Event for a CellTowerList based Sector you can simply add the CellTower that have triggered the event to the Sector (this is a very simple way to extend existing CellTowerBased Sectors)
For a CellTower for which no location could be detected/requested you are able to enter the Latitude & Longitude values manually (if you know them)
Beside looking into the LittleBrother LOG you can dump the content as TXT to the file system of your device [the path is hard coded: In the BlackBerry user home directory on the device (not on the SDCard)]
The LOG stores a maximum of 200 log entries (then the oldest entries will be removed)
WiFI Activated & WiFi Deactivated Messages have been removed from the GUI (you will find them now also in the LOG)
Ignoring invalid CellTowerIds. [A colleague of mine had issues with a imaginary CellTower that occasionally be reported by the OS/RadioInfo/SIM (CellId:65535 & MCC:65535) - this had happened at various totally different locations.]

AppWorld Push Notification

A few days ago Bla1ze over at CrackBerry.com announced the new update of BlackBerry App World. Now standing at v2.1.2.15 there is no changelog for this update, the only thing I have visually noticed is the carousel icons seem to be bigger. The dev team has also more than likely fixed minor bugs that have appeared since the last update.
